Bio

Magnus Riise is a Norwegian-American indie pop songwriter and performer based in New York City. His music has been streamed in over 120 countries, and he has performed his original music in five countries — the US (New York, Denver, Fire Island, Ogunquit, Wilton Manors), Norway, Denmark, the UK, and Switzerland.
He creates and runs Extended Play, a free monthly live music showcase for queer indie recording artists in Hell's Kitchen — now in its 33rd edition with 66 guest artists featured since August 2023.

His debut EP Until Tomorrow (2023) was produced and mixed by Harry Burr, with songwriting collaborators including Mark Sanderlin (Lyon Hart, 25M+ YouTube streams), Kjetil Mørland (Eurovision 2015, co-writer of "A Monster Like Me"), and ASCAP/Jonathan Larson Award winners Charlie Sohne & Tim Rosser (India.Arie, Billy Porter). The EP's music videos have screened at film festivals internationally, including the Golden State Film Festival at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood ("Earthquake"), Out on Film in Atlanta ("Until Tomorrow"), and Big Syn London, where "Still Here" — featuring an all-queer Deaf cast performing in ASL — won Best Music Video. The EP received press coverage from HuffPost, The Advocate, OUT, INTO, and Queerty, among outlets across 12+ countries.

He is currently at work on a follow-up EP, One Day is Your Last Tomorrow, and a companion remix EP, Dance Until Tomorrow.

Extended Play w/Magnus Riise & Friends

Extended Play is a free monthly live music showcase for queer indie recording artists that Magnus founded in August 2023. Every month, the showcase brings together emerging and established artists for an evening of original music, building a recurring space where queer performers can share new work with a community that shows up consistently. Over 33 editions of uninterrupted monthly programming, the showcase has featured 66 unique guest artists — roughly 30% of whom have returned for multiple appearances — and has evolved through multiple format eras, a venue transition, and a special international edition in Oslo, Norway.

An Extended Play Spotify playlist collects music from every artist who has performed at the showcase, creating a living archive of the community the series has built.
